Floor

The floor construction of our one-storey prefab timber homes is executed with the so called dry floor. This option as dry construction itself, has no wet processes because no water solutions are used. There is no additional time for connection of materials and drying of rooms, thus no moisture inside the house.

To execute floor construction of our prefab timber homes we use the Knauf system for dry floors - Vidifloor. It consists of leveling dry material with minimal thickness 30 mm and two layers of Vidifloor boards each of them 10 mm thick.

These Vidifloor boards have advantage compared to drywall when you need to achieve higher mechanical stability. The elements are connected to each other with their rabbets, fixed with a special adhesive and screws provided by Knauf. The dry material is granule-like with sizes 1-6 mm.

Knauf floor system is suitable for floor heating installation because there is low heat resistance and it doesn't stop the heat flow. The surface has high stiffness and isn't damaged by point loading. On top you can put parquet (natural timber or laminate flooring), terracotta,
carpets or soft PVC coverings - directly and without additional operations.

We understand that the choice of floor covering is important to our customers because it can determine the rooms' design - natural timber flooring, laminate flooring, terracotta, carpets. It's important for you to know in advance how many people will live in the house and which of them will mainly use the room in question, is it going to be used on a daily basis, how often will be cleaned, etc. It all depends on your preferences.

Each type of floor covering has its own advantages and disadvantages:

Massive timber flooring is produced mainly from beech, oak, cherry, pine, lime, sycamore, and other wood types. Its standard thickness is 1,5 cm and can be scraped many times. Massive timber flooring has good insulation capabilities, it's durable and can be cleaned easily. You can also choose a two-layers parquet that doesn't allow warping and deformation like the classical parquet.

The laminate flooring is the cheapest of all mentioned and consists of chip board, frame timber imitation and a protecting varnish. It's very pressure- and heat-resistant, easy to clean and assemble. The color choice is enormous. When choosing laminate flooring the most important thing is the resistance class and the material used to make the carrying board. You can change your laminate flooring quickly and easily - in not loaded rooms it can be used for 10-15 years.

The terracotta flooring offers a huge choice of design, patterns and shapes. The good quality terracotta is made of white clay, which has better indexes. The ceramic tiles are stronger, because there is about 50% feldspar in their structure. Thet have almost 0% water absorption and can be used outside without worrying of cracks.

Carpets are another type of floor covering. They are suitable for rooms where you walk barefoot. Carpets are very good insulators, but are hard to clean.
