TIMBER
The timber we use for production of our prefab homes is from Bulgarian softwood - pine trees and spruce. Timber joists are constructive elements that form the building's skeleton. They are usually hidden behind the outside and inside walls' layers and cannot be seen except during the assembly period. Timber joists are used for walls, ceilings, the floor between first and second floor, and roof and the spacing between them is small.
Timber joists in the wall elements are horizontal and vertical and have appropriate sections to be stable and take the loading of wind, the building weight and other loads. The timber is impregnated with a special substance that is protecting it from mold and insects.
- Relative weight – 490 kg/m3
- Appropriate moisture 10-12 %
- Bending strength 76-98 МPa
MINERAL WOOL
The mineral wool is used for main heat-insulating material for our timber prefab houses. It's produced from quartz sand and is a material with a thread-like structure, which can be compressed and packaged in rolls. After opening the roll the insulation gets its original thickness back and doesn't settle down during exploiting.
The mineral wool has extremely good heat- and sound insulating capabilities. Using 10 cm thick mineral wool in a timber frame wall is equal to 38 cm wall from solid timber, 90 cm brick wall and 350 cm concrete wall.
The mineral wool is a harmless product and it's an incombustible material class А1. It contains special hydrophobic additions which don't allow the wool between the threads to damp. If there is a dampness anyway, when the wool dries up it has the same initial heat-insulating capabilities. The mineral wool is imported from France (Isover), Spain (URSA) and Denmark (Rockwool).
- Combustibility class – А, weakly smoking, incombustible and doesn't leak
- Heat conductivity: K =0,040 W/mK
- Sound insulation when using 100 mm wool – sound insulation level (sound absorption) of 52 dB and reduction of noise level 35 times
OSB
OSB (Oriented Strand Boards) are boards made of long thin pieces that look like plywood. These pieces are with a precise form and thickness, they are pressed together with an adhesive element and form multilayer boards. The pieces in the outer layers are parallel to the longitudinal axis of the board, while the pieces from the inner layers are perpendicular to those from the outer layers.
Oriented Strand Boards have high resistance, high bending strength of main axis, they are safe in structural and biological aspect. The wall elements' skeleton is covered with OSB in order to secure their diafragm ability. They are produced by Kronospan in Burgas, Bulgaria or are imported from Germany and Poland.
- Density - 640 kg/m3
- Bending strength for main axis - 22 N/mm2
- Bending strength for additional axis - 11 N/mm2
- Combustibility - B2 combustible
DRYWALL
Drywall consists of gypsum boards which sides and edges are covered with a special resistant cardboard. In wet rooms (kitchen and bathroom) a green colored drywall is used - in this case the gypsum is specially treated against water absorption.
Gypsum is an excellent material regarding its contact with the human body. It has the same pH as the man's skin, has no smell and is absolutely safe. Gypsum can add in many ways for the comfort of living inside the house: through heat insulation, sound insulation and fire protection, gypsum boards are warm when you touch them and create a cozy feeling. Gypsum is controlling air moisture in closed rooms as it consists of a great number of small pores. When there is humidity in the air they absorb it and when there is a shortage they give it back.
The gypsum boards are incombustible and even with small thickness they offer great fire protection. They can be used to achieve smooth walls, ceilings and floors without gaps and cracks - a good foundation for painting, polishes, plasters and ceramic tiles. The drywall is imported material from Knauf - Austria.
- Density - 720 kg/m3
- Heat conductivity К=0.16 W/mK
- Sound insulation 35 dB
- Combustibility – incombustible
- Fire resistance 30 min for 1000°
- Bending strength – 4,5 MPa
FIREBOARD
Fireboard is a building board consisting of a mixture of gypsum and cellulose threads. Its surface is specially impregnated against water absorption. There is no cardboard like the one covering the drywall.
Fireboard is combining the benefits of the different types of drywall and better strength. It's used for building of the dry floor in our timber frame houses and for insulation of the chimneys inside the building. Fireboards Vidifloor are manufactured in the Knauf factory in Vidin. Bulgaria.
